Merriam-Webster has a great site called Word Central that has not only an online dictionary and thesaurus, but lots of fun games to play as well as a way to build a dictionary of your very own.
Scholastic created a listing of five of the top dictionary apps for students which includes two picture dictionaries. Picture dictionaries are a great way to help your pre-text reading student start to build their vocabulary or reinforce what they already know by using pictures to explain words instead of text.
Thoughtful Learning created a list of seven effective vocab-building activities that you can do offline with your students young and old.
