Mitchell was a struggling reader, but that didn't stop him from putting forth just as much if not more effort in the classroom as on the football field. He grew to love books and reading which gave him the inspiration to write a children's book.
Our story beings at a local library's family fun event. There are lost of special things going on, but the highlight this year is a magician. Once the magician's show starts, the audience can tell it's going to be a great one-coins appear from thin air, spoons wiggle and bend without being touched. The magician is amazing! The secret behind the magician's powers? Books of course! The magician shows his audience that books are the best magic there is and can take you as far as you want to go.
Our lower elementary kids really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are bright and colorful and the story is easy to follow with a great message. Once we finished reading, each student was giving a magician's hat of their own to decorate with their future plans and did we ever get some niffy jobs! I just love books like this that lend themselves so well to artistic expression!
