The book fair is by far on of my most favorite things about being a school librarian. Scholastic is a huge name in publishing for children's books and so many of my titles have that red Scholastic ribbon on the bottom of the back cover. A lot of student favorites are on display at the book fair, and they are for sale! Students can by them, take them home, and KEEP THEM! In an age where online shopping for books seems to be quickly overtaking the world, the book fair is often the closest a lot of students will get to the magic of browsing in a book store.
Every year during our spring parent teacher conferences, the library plays host to the Scholastic book fair. Cases upon cases of books and other materials arrive and for a few short days the library is transformed from lending service to bookstore-much to the delight of the students.
